Mound, located on the western shores of Lake Minnetonka, is almost totally surrounded by water. A magnet for homeowners who love the water, it is 3.1 square miles and home to more than 9,000 residences. Bays abound Jennings Bay, Harrison Bay, West Arm Bay, Priest Bay, Halstead Bay, Phelps Bay along with multiple lakes and 32 parks. 

Founded in the 1850s, Mound served as an active business district on the shores of Cooks Bay. One of its most famous companies was Tonka Toys Incorporated, home of the yellow metal Tonka Truck.

Today, Mound still features a small downtown, where residences have access to restaurants and retail. Al and Alma’s marina, one of 311 public dock sites, is a popular gathering spot and boat launch during the summer. Mound, which is in the Westonka School District (ISD 277), features a skate park and Dakota Rail Trail where cyclists can be found in warmer months and fat tire enthusiasts brave the cold.
