Here’s a look at what’s new and what’s coming around Lake Minnetonka.
Parcelle Is Coming to Wayzata
One of the more anticipated upcoming openings is Parcelle, an organic, health-focused café making its way to downtown Wayzata.
Located at 641 Lake Street East, the new location is expected to feature a smaller grab-and-go concept with organic food, drinks, and a fresh California-inspired atmosphere.
Parcelle currently operates in Northeast Minneapolis, and the Wayzata location will bring the concept right into the heart of the Lake Street district.
An official opening date has not yet been announced, but the company continues to list the Wayzata location as “coming soon.”
Tono Pizzeria + Cheesesteaks Opens in Wayzata
Another recent addition to Wayzata is Tono Pizzeria + Cheesesteaks, which opened at 810 Lake Street East in the former D’Amico space.
Known for its pizzas, cheesesteaks, sandwiches, and casual atmosphere, Tono brings another approachable dining option to Lake Street.
The restaurant officially celebrated its Wayzata opening earlier this year and adds yet another dining choice to an already busy downtown restaurant scene.
Belle & Grey Brings a New Look to The Hotel Landing
The restaurant space inside The Hotel Landing also received a refresh this year.
Belle & Grey replaced the former ninetwentyfive concept, bringing a new restaurant experience to one of downtown Wayzata’s most recognizable hotels.
With its location just steps from Lake Minnetonka, the restaurant is another addition to Wayzata’s growing lineup of places to eat, meet, and spend an evening downtown.
Bar Eloise Returns to Downtown Wayzata
Bar Eloise also recently reopened with an updated concept.
The new version leans toward a more relaxed restaurant and bar atmosphere and includes an expanded patio — something that should fit particularly well with Wayzata’s busy summer and fall seasons.
With Lake Street continuing to attract new restaurants and businesses, Wayzata remains one of the most active commercial areas around Lake Minnetonka.
Comal Opens in Long Lake
Long Lake has a notable new restaurant of its own.
Comal opened this summer after the owners of San Pancho transformed the space into a new Mexican restaurant concept.
Owners Angel and Finesse Luna are already familiar to many people around Lake Minnetonka after spending years involved with 6Smith in Wayzata.
Comal marks a new chapter for the family and gives Long Lake another locally owned dining destination.
New Retail Space Planned for Downtown Excelsior
There may be even more changes ahead in downtown Excelsior.
A new retail development is planned for 293 Water Street, near the prominent intersection of Third Street and Water Street.
Plans have included approximately 3,000 square feet of commercial space, potentially creating room for additional retail, restaurant, or service businesses in the heart of downtown.
No specific tenant has been announced yet, but it will be an interesting property to watch as Excelsior continues to evolve.
SANCTUM Fitness Opens in Shorewood
Shorewood recently welcomed SANCTUM Fitness, a private 24-hour fitness facility designed specifically for women.
The concept focuses on strength training and offers members access around the clock.
Smaller specialty fitness concepts have become increasingly popular throughout the Twin Cities, and SANCTUM adds something a little different to the Lake Minnetonka area.
Inspired Closets Expands to the Excelsior Area
Inspired Closets has also opened a showroom in the Excelsior area.
The company specializes in custom closets and home organization systems, including pantries, garages, offices, mudrooms, and other storage spaces.
It’s another example of the home-design and lifestyle businesses continuing to gravitate toward the Lake Minnetonka market.
New Dining Concepts Continue to Shape Excelsior
Downtown Excelsior’s restaurant scene continues to change as well.
Concepts including Mirabelle, Shiki, and Parlour have helped reshape a prominent section of Water Street and add new dining and nightlife options downtown.
Excelsior has long been one of Lake Minnetonka’s most walkable downtown areas, and the continued arrival of restaurants and businesses is helping keep the district active throughout the year.
Tropical Smoothie Café Comes to Minnetonka
Minnetonka has also welcomed a new Tropical Smoothie Café near Highway 7 and County Road 101.
Located at 4711 County Road 101, the national chain offers smoothies, wraps, sandwiches, salads, and bowls.
While downtown Wayzata and Excelsior tend to attract more independent restaurant and retail concepts, the larger Minnetonka commercial corridors continue to draw national brands and service businesses.
More Changes Are Likely Ahead
One of the things that makes the Lake Minnetonka area so appealing is the mix of established local favorites and new businesses continually entering the market.
Wayzata remains particularly active along Lake Street, while Excelsior continues to evolve along Water Street. Long Lake, Shorewood, Minnetonka, Deephaven, and Orono are also seeing new restaurants, retail concepts, fitness studios, and service businesses emerge.
